AIRPORT WIT GLOBAL IMPORTANCE

Official name : Governador Aluízio Alves International Airport

The total shutdown of a new modern international airport ( Augusto Severo ) to open the much larger Natal's strategical International Sao Goncalo city airport, together with the creation of a free trade zone ( ZPE Macaiba ) shows the ambition of Rio Grande do Norte and Brazil
( Brazilian Gvernement sees this new airport as essential for the development of the whole of Brazil ).
This new airport, the free trade zone and in a lesser extend the Arena das Dunas multifunctional stadium was only possible with the vision, help and in fact initiative ( PAC ) of the Brazilian Government.
This way Brazil and all of South America create a portal to the rest of the world and soon a hub and Aerotropolis causing airport driven development .

The fact that the same Inframerica group also invested in and runs the central airport in the capital Brasilia as well as other strategical airports all over South America and the rest of the world, forming a global network, confirms what is mentioned above and its own continental and global ambition.
This way the more than 50 airports operated by the Group Corporación América ( partner of Inframerica ) spread over seven countries will synerge and this new Natal airport forms a head or portal to Europe, Africa, US and Asia.

At the same time there is a Flurry of Airports all over Latin America, keeping up with regional growth by renovating its airports and building new ones all in need for the ideal portal and hub(s).
Guarulhos International Airport ( Sao Paulo, Brazil ), Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Bogotá, Panama City and Brasilia are all renovating their airports.
Lima and Montevideo have already done so.
Guatemala City and Asuncion are preparing to start work on theirs.
And the wave of airport renovations isn’t limited to capital cities; it has spilled into provincial cities too.
All these airports with their exceptional growth will create demand for the new RN portal and city airport.

HISTORY
Governador Aluízio Alves International Airport, is a new airport complex in São Gonçalo do Amarante near Natal, Brazil, built to replace Augusto Severo International Airport.
Planning for the airport started in 2007 envisioning concepts of an intermodal airport, focusing both on passenger and cargo transportation.
The complex is expected to have the highest aircraft traffic in the Northeast of Brazil
( busiest passenger and cargo hub in the Northeast upon completion ).

The winner of the auction to choose the winner took place on August 22, 2011
was the Inframérica Consortium, formed by the Brazilian Engineering Group Engevix (50%) and the Argentinean Group Corporación América (50%).
Inframérica Consortium had 3 years to build the terminals from scratch and is authorized to commercially explore the facility for 25 years (with one possible 5-year extension).
Differently from other Infraero airports in process of privatization, in which Infraero retains 49% of the shares, in the case of Natal Consórcio Inframérica got 100% of the shares.
On February 6, 2012 Consortium Inframérica also won the concession of Brasília Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport.
The airport was opened for operations on May 31, 2014.

STAGGERING GROWTH

According to World Bank data on Brazil, air transport measured by passenger volume almost trebled between 2003 (32.3 million) and 2012 (94.6 million).
Airport infrastructure failed to keep up with this rapid growth in demand - and if the extra 600,000 tourists which the Brazilian Institute of Tourism expects to visit the country during the 2014 FIFA World Cup were taken into account, the country's airports would struggle to cope.

CARGO GIANT
The airport is able to receive 10 airplanes Airbus A380, the biggest passengers airplane.
The cargo terminal will be able to harbor four airplanes A380 (first stage),
and when concluded, 156 airplanes A380.

Inframerica in Brasilia




Private sector broadens Brazilian presence

State-run Infraero once retained full control of Brazil's airports, but the government embarked tentatively on a privatisation programme in May 2011.

As airport infrastructure failed to keep up with this rapid growth in demand more airports previously managed by Infraero are now being operated by private consortia.

Inframérica, a consortium of Engevix Participacoes SA (50%) and Corporación America SA (50%), won the bid to develop the intermodal airport of Sao Goncalo do Amarante, which will be the busiest passenger and cargo hub in the Northeast upon completion.

Inframérica consortium, made up of Corporación América SA and Infravix Emprendimientos SA was awarded the Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport of Brasilia.
The airport presently has an annual traffic of 16 million passengers.
The objective was to modernize the country’s airport infrastructure for the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro.
This is the second airport awarded to Inframérica in Brazil by means of a private bidding process.

Corporación América
Corporación América is an Argentine holding with business presence in Latin America, Europe and Asia, not only in the airport management sector (airports and cargo terminals) but also in agro industry, energy, services, retail and infrastructure.
Among others, Corporación América manages the following airports: S. Anna Cotrone and Trapani (Italia), Galápagos (Ecuador), Guayaquil (Ecuador), Montevideo (Uruguay), Punta del Este (Uruguay), Zvartnots and Giumry (Armenia), Natal (Brazil), six airports in Peru (Tacna, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Juliaca, Puerto Maldonado and Andahuaylas), and 35 airports in Argentina.

This makes Corporación América the largest private airport managing company in the world.
Infravix
Infravix Emprendimientos SA was founded in November 2010 with the specific purpose of participating in infrastructure development in Brazil and in the real estate sector.
It currently holds 22% of VIABAHIA, Concesiones Rodoviárias SA.
Infravix has invested in new technologies through two companies in which it has a relevant stake: VENTECH and AIRSHIP of Brazil.
In 2011 Infravix focused on real estate investment in Río Grande/RS municipality in three projects in which it partnered with the Otero group, in addition to investing in the airport sector, road maintenance concessions, sanitation and new real estate undertakings.

According to the Inframerica Group, in charge of managing the terminal, the airport has 42 check-in desks and six self-check-in kiosks, shared between airlines.
These resources are spread out in a large, well lit and comfortable terminal.
The structure allows for queues to be redistributed and new check-in points to be opened whenever necessary.
When a certain airline has more flights than another, a bigger number of desks will be made available to it, so they can board their passengers quicker. As passengers board, they go through security and a big Dufry shop.
Then, they get to the departures lounge, which has six bridges able to attach to up to eight aircrafts at the same time.
Tourist related services are provided on the way out, like transport to hotels, taxis and exchange bureaus, among others.

“São Gonçalo was the first airport to undergo the concession process and is different from all the others, not because it's 100% private, but because the structure was planned and built from scratch in record time.
"Its operations have started seven months before what is anticipated in the contract", explains Alysson Paolinelli, Inframerica CEO.

Future projects

According to Paolinelli, the new airport in São Gonçalo was planned looking into the future, as some projects still have to be developed, which will contribute to the growth of the region.

“The terminal is being delivered, but we can see that a lot of expansion work is being done in its surroundings.
This is positive, as it represents growth.
We’re going to have a hotel, a petrol garage, area for industry.
Therefore, I expect that a lot more construction works will be developed in the area, which will drive development in the region", explains Alysson.

“Brasilia and Natal together account for 20 million passengers per year, about the same number as the entire airport system of Argentina,” said to Latin Trade Ezequiel Barrenechea,managing director for Latin American and the Caribbean for Corporacion America, the world’s largest private airport administrator and a partner in both projects.



Improving Connections

Beyond South America, Central America refuses to be left behind in the rush to upgrade.
Panama, for one, is moving ahead at full speed.
The Tocumen International Airport is undergoing its third expansion– prompted by the growth of Copa Airlines, for which it serves as hub– and two further expansions are in the planning stage.
“We are in the heart of the Americas,” Ernesto Orillac, viceminister of tourism of Panama, told Latin Trade, “and we are taking full advantage of our geographical position.”



Brazil's São Gonçalo de Amarante airport in Rio Grande do Norte state is Brazil's first concessioned airport.

Eager to avoid a ( near ) collapse of the Brazilian airports during the World Cup in 2014 and wanting to speed up preparations for the World Cup in 2014 President Dilma isolated the Brazilian airports ( Infraero ) from politics and the Ministry of Defense ( to decrease bureaucracy and increase efficiency and speed ).
President Dilma Rousseff created an autonomous ministry that rules the Brazilian airports
( only supervised by the Brazilian Government and by a competent technical person ).

This new airport is very badly needed to take the pressure of the other airports including the old one of Natal)

Both Natal airports ( and our Project ) are at the lower point of this triangle ( the access point to the fast growing Latin America continent ),
connecting Brazil with Europe and USA or connecting North and South America, Europe and Africa.

Most planes leaving Latin America will come from the South-East of Brazil and Argentina ( mostly tourists ) and this is not indicated on this map/globe with triangle.

During World War II the Allies (Americans) constructed Natal airport because it was then the closest crossover and also the only possible crossover for their planes to reach Europe.

During World War II Natal (Brazil) airport was the busiest airport in the world.

It still is the only place where some of the biggest planes of the world are able to cross over with full passenger and cargo capacity used.
Even for the planes that can, this is the most fuel efficient and safest cross over the Atlantic.
Back then, it was an airport city ( on arrival you could sleep at the airport in a hotel ) and it will be again.

Back then Brazil was a undeveloped.

With the new international airport ( and Brazil becoming one of the biggest, autonomous and strategical economies of the world )
this airport is bound to be one of the busiest airport hubs of the Western hemisphere and the world once again.

Now a land with the dimensions of a continent and the largest reserves of water, hydro and alternative energy and fuels ( like ethanol, eco diesel and eco kerosene but also oil ) and basic commodities ( like iron ) with one of the largest direct foreign investments of the world is obliged to have a huge hub
( and the best and most logic place for it is ) in Natal ( designed to receive the biggest airplanes of the world ).



There was not sufficient capacity where it is needed ( at the North-East
The new airport will make the Litoral Norte ( North Coast ) of Rio Grande do Norte the International Real Estate Hotspot for years to come.
It will be the official Air Portal for Brazil.

One year after the Sao Gonçalo do Amarante international airport inauguration, the value of the properties in our project is expected to triplicate.

Natal is one of the host cities for the 2014 World Cup.

The lighthouse was also build ( by the Allies ) during the second world war and was the highest lighthouse of the world in concrete at the time.

The minimum runway / pavement width requirements, for the A380, that Airbus sent to airports is 45m, or 146.25'.
60 m is better to prevent erosion of the shoulders on the runway
Any runway that is less than 200' wide (61.53m), will require 40' (12.3m) shoulders on each side of the runway.
An 80 meter width runway allows the plane to turn 180 degrees within the runway width.
3000 meters is long enough for the A380 and B744 to operate off.
Sao Goncalo do Amarante is 3300 meters long (10/06/2014 ) and has almost always the most favourable headwinds.
The windconditions ( constant monodirectional headwinds) in Sao Goncalo are such that a much shorter runway is needed.

( Maximum Minimum runway / Pavement Width for all aircraft of Boeing, including the Dreamliner, is 50 meters )

The runway of Sao Goncalo is now just under 80 m wide ( officially 60 m ).
The length is 3300 meters (over 9800 ft) or larger already but is foreseen to become 4000 meters ( groundworks are made for 4000 meters ).

Taxiway width and turning radius are adapted to the largest aircrafts.
